SABIAS QUE:
En 1960, una banda de siete miembros conocidos como Xippos Rock fue formada por varios chicos de escuela secundaria en la ciudad de Durango, en el estado de Durango. La banda fue formada por dos amigos de la escuela secundaria, Roberto Miranda y Muñoz Moises. Miranda fue la primera guitarra y Muñoz era el bajista. Mientras estudiaba en la universidad de su ciudad natal, Durango, en el centro de México, después de un tiempo invitaron a Armando Nava, siempre lo veian que llevaba una guitarra en su bicicleta por lo que hablaron con él para unirse a la banda. Nava tenía un primo Jorge Luján que estaba muy cerca de él y Nava le enseño a tocar la guitarra, y luego fue invitado a la banda, después de un tiempo SERGIO Orrante, el baterista, se unio a la banda, en unos pocos meses ALCALDE FRANCISCO se unio a la banda como cantante, en el último momento JORGE DE LA TORRE ´se unio a la banda como cantante,no tenían guitarras eléctricas, ni tambores, tocaban con guitarras acústicas y como tambores usaban una silla, incluso tocaron en una estación de radio local con una silla y guitarras acústicas y en algunos eventos en lugares y teatros locales, como el Teatro Ricardo Castro (conocido como Cine Principal en ese entonces) y en varios locales. Las canciones que solían tocar en esos primeros años fueron covers de bandas de rock mexicanos, como Los Teen Tops, Los Locos del Ritmo, Los Rebeldes del Rock, ETC, ETC
En 1967 la banda apareció en dos películas: El Mundo Loco de los Jóvenes (The Crazy World of the Teenagers), en la cual aparecen como la banda de la casa en en las escenas de un club, y en Angel o Demonio a.k.a Cinco de Chocolate y Una de Fresa (Angel or Devil - Five of Chocolate & One of Strawberry), para la cual ellos escribieron y tocaron en vivo a pieza instrumental llamada Tema de Los Dug’s, la cual fue lanzada después como sencillo.
Los Dug Dug’s regresan a Tijuana en 1968 y en el club Sans Sous Ci conocen a un turista gringo llamado Frank Mangano, quien les ofrece la oportunidad de incursionar en el mercado gringo. A finales de ese año la banda viaja a New York y logran grabar algunas rolas en vivo como Gimme Some Lovin’, Summer in the City y Shake (de Sam Cooke), con Jorge de la Torre como vocalista, Gustavo Garayzar en la guitarra líder y Armando Nava en los teclados. También hicieron algunas grabaciones (inéditas) en estudio incluyendo versiones previas de World of Love y Eclipse, las cuales salieron después en su primer álbum y fueron éxitos en México.
Luego de su intento fallido de incursionar en el mercado gringo, la banda regresa a México y en 1971, lanzan su primer álbum con RCA. El 11 de Septiembre de ese mismo año se realiza el Festival de Rock y Ruedas en Avándaro, Estado de México y Los Dug Dug’s fuerion una de las bandas invitadoas a participar. En esos días, ya había algunos conflictos entre los miembros del grupo y Jorge de la Torre abandona la banda, dejando como líder a Armando Nava. Debido a la ausencia de Jorge, tuvieron que presentarse en el concierto de Avándaro como un cuarteto. Tiempo después esta alineación se desbandaría y Armando tendría que reinventar el grupo en 1972, siempre con el mismo nombre pero ahora como un poderoso trío.
