Las Brazaletes
En 1980, las guitarristas Susanna Hoffs y Vicki Peterson y la baterísta Debbi Peterson formaron las brazaletes en un garage de Brentwood, California. Lo hicieron basadas en dos elementos fundamentales: el amor común por la edad de oro del rock ("Al crecer amando la misma música siempre ha sido el pegamento de las Bangles," dice Susanna), y el sonido cristalino que naturalmente crean cuando se mezclan la voces ("La química estaba allí instantáneamente. simplemente se hace clic," Debbi recuerda). Estas epifanías entrelazados las enviaron juntas en un largo y sinuoso camino que continúa hasta este momento especial: la aparición de AMOR DEL SOL, un álbum lleno de un nuevo lote de canciones de bangles definitivas - y parece que todavía no hay final a la vista .
Grabado por Matthew Sweet (frecuente colaborador de Susanna) en su estudio en las colinas de Hollywood, con gran parte del doblaje hecho en los estudios de casa de Vicki y Susana, y mezclado por Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Wilco), AMOR DEL SOL revela a las Bangles en sus extremos igualmente seductores, como elevadas armonías folk-rock conviven con delirios adrenalizados planos inspirados en las raíces de la banda en Nuggets-era del rock garage. Este último movimiento se hace evidente por las dos portadas: una reconquista salvaje y lanuda de la oscura invasión británica tesoro Dulce y Tierno Romance de McKinley Hermanas de Escocia, en el que Vicki conmovedoramente canales Jimmy Page, quien interpretó el solo de guitarra en el original y una ampollante toma en el Nazz de la clásica de Todd Rundgren Open My Eyes, que han estado tocando en vivo desde mediados de los años 80.
