BLACK SABBATH - Discografia -

Black Sabbath se le atribuye la creación del heavy metal. El éxito de sus dos primeros álbumes - Domingo Negro y Paranoico - marcó un cambio de paradigma en el mundo del rock. No fue hasta que Black Sabbath volcó la escena de la música qué el término "heavy metal" entro en el vocabulario popular para describir el más denso, más estruendoso desprendimiento de rock sobre el que presidía.
 Con sus canciones a base de riffs, volumen extremo, y la materia oscura, tema demoníaco, Black Sabbath encarna los aspectos clave de la estética heavy-metal. Sin embargo, en sus propias palabras, Black Sabbath se veían como un banda de"rock pesado subterráneo" . Ese término denota tanto la intensidad de su música y de la red de fans que se encuentran mucho antes de los críticos y la industria musical ke se dio cuenta. En cierto sentido, a pesar de que ha vendido más de 75 millones de álbumes en todo el mundo, siguen siendo una banda underground pesado. A pesar de que fue elegible para el salon de la Fama del Rock and Roll  en 1995, no fueron incluidos hasta 2006. La verdad es que siguen siendo una de las bandas más incomprendidas de la historia del rock.

La historia de Black Sabbath comenzó en Birmingham, Inglaterra, donde Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler y Bill Ward buscaban escapar de una vida de trabajo en la fábrica a través de la música. Los cuatro músicos se iniciaron en esos trajes psicodélicos como la dama entre vaqueros y Mitología (aunque Osbourne había sido un Mod de pelo corto que amaba la música soul). Influenciado por las bandas de blues británico reinante - Led Zeppelin, Cream, Bluesbreakers de John Mayall - los cuatro formarón Earth Blues Company (abreviado a Earth), en 1968.

Todo cambió cuando Butler llegó a la banda con una idea para una canción inspirada en una aparición inquietante. Un fan de las películas de terror y magia negra con tematica de novelas de Dennis Wheatley, que coqueteó brevemente con la magia negra. Pero cuando vio lo que él cree que es una figura del lado oscuro, al pie de su cama una noche, dejó sus escarceos en el mundo gótico. Con letra de Osbourne, el grupo compuso una canción acerca de la visita, que se intitula "Domingo Negro" (después de la película de 1963 de Boris Karloff). Esto provocó una reacción en el público, que son únicos en su repertorio, y sabían que habían tropezado con algo poderoso y único. Obligandolos a cambiar su nombre porque ya había otra banda llamada "Earth", hicieron una elección obvia: Black Sabbath.

"Ahí fue cuando todo empezó a suceder", dijo Tony Iommi al escritor Mick Wall. "El nombre sonaba misterioso, le dio a la gente algo en que pensar, y nos dio una dirección a seguir." La respuesta a los primeros dos discos de sabbath fue instantánea.
